FAQs

What does microdosing psilocybin do to you?

Microdosing is taking a small amount of the substance, which rarely causes any psychological effects, or hallucinations. The benefits that you receive from microdosing psilocybin is an improvement in mood and focus. While some described a peaceful feeling, like an inner calmness.

When should you microdose and how frequently?

It really is personal preference. Some people like taking it in the morning in tea, by itself, or mixed into a shake. Others like taking it during the day or even at night. Results will vary for everyone, as not one person is the same.

For frequency we recommend twice a week for 1 to 2 months and then stopping for 3.

Some people enjoy microdosing every day. It really depends on the individual.

Can you use psilocybin for depression?

There is ongoing research with regards to the effectiveness of microdosing for depression. While there is "not enough" concrete evidence to confirm that it will work for everyone, trials have suggested a change in mood while taking psilocybin to treat depression. If you have been diagnosed with depression, we suggest you speak with your physician with regards to using psilocybin to treat your depression.

Sometimes I have a negative experience when using psilocybin. Why does this happen?

We like to look at it that part taking in psychedelics like psilocybin there will always be light and darkness. Just like life in general we have the yin and the yang. In our opinion there is no such thing as a "bad trip". Psilocybin when taken in what people refer to as a "therapeutic dose" or "hero dose" there is the potential for unresolved pain to surface that needs to be processed. Some may refer to this as a bad trip or negative experience, we like to look at it as a part of us that needs to be healed and processed.

What can I do if I have an upset stomach from taking psilocybin?

We suggest taking it with a non psilocybin mushroom called lion's mane to help with digestion. Our microdose capsules have lion's mane already mixed into the capsule.

How do I microdose with psilocybin mushrooms?

Psilocybin mushrooms can be microdosed by ingesting around 0.2-0.5g, but everyone’s tolerance is different.

How do I take psilocybin mushrooms?

Psilocybin mushrooms can be eaten whole, brewed in a tea, or cooked into food. A moderate dose is 1-2.5g, which can be weighed on a scale.

What is psilocybin?

Psilocybin is a hallucinogenic compound that occurs naturally in psilocybin mushrooms (psilocybin mushrooms are also referred to as “magic mushrooms” or “shrooms”). There are more than 180 species of mushrooms containing psilocybin.

They are also proving very useful in treating a range of afflictions among patients requiring relief from headache pain, OCD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and addiction, among many others.

How does psilocybin work?

When we ingest psilocybin, our digestive system produces the psychoactive compound psilocin, which initiates changes in our brain function, causing increased activity in our visual cortex, changing perception, causing decreased network activity in the “Default Mode Network,” resulting in a reduction of ego. Psilocybin also increases connectivity and activity in different areas of the brain. The combination of these activities and alterations are why it is considered an effective tool among researchers for addressing those suffering from depression and addiction.

One of the main effects of a psychedelic like psilocybin is its ability to mimic serotonin, thus stimulating a serotonin receptor called “5-HT2A,” located in the prefrontal cortex. This stimulation of the 5-HT2A receptor yields 2 results:

1. BDNF (or “Brain-Derived Neurotropic Factor”) is produced. This has been described as “Miracle-Gro” for your brain. It stimulates the activity, connectedness, and the actual growth of your brain.

2. Cognition, learning, and memory are increased due to the increased transmission of the neurotransmitter “Glutamate.

Researchers are also finding that psychedelics cause parts of the brain that don’t usually communicate with each other to communicate with each other. By lowering our need to use what has been considered an over-used part of our brain referred to as the “Default Mode Network” (or DMN), other connections get a chance to form. This DMN area of the brain is largely responsible for daydreaming, self-reflection, and contemplating the past or future. These mental activities, and substances that cause them, can easily be responsible for depression and anxiety and maybe blocking more inaccessible creative perspectives.
